A Time to be Born: Joyce Yvonne Walker, was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on November 26, 1937, to Isabelle Claiborne.
A Time to Live: Joyce graduated from Dunbar High School in 1956 and moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1960. Joyce joined Apostolic Faith Temple in 1968, after being introduced to Jesus Christ by her best friend Fannie Nesbitt, and later became a minister there under the late Beatrice Russell. Joyce later joined Divine Refuge Church of Christ under the late Overseer Bertha Plummer C. W. Gilbert, and Bishop George C. Plummer II in 1982 (now Divine Kingdom Builders, Pastor Terri Jamison-Gary). She became an Evangelist and Sunday school teacher there, participated in the choir, served on the usher board, assisted in vacation Bible school, and served as an Armor Bearer President.
Joyce enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, and hosting holiday gatherings. She made it a mission to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone she encountered and was always ready and willing to pray for those in need. Joyce retired from the Columbus School Board in 2016.
A Time of Peace: Joyce Yvonne Walker peacefully departed this life on October 19, 2023, surrounded by family and friends at Ohio Health Doctors Hospital. Joyce was blessed to live 85 years and is preceded in death by Mother, Isabelle Claiborne; Carl Walker Jr; sons, Clarence Hubb Jr. and Wayne Hubb Sr. Joyce leaves to cherish her memory children, Deborah Hoy (Louis Hoy), Christopher Hubb Sr; Paul Walker Sr. (Dawn Walker); Carlita Walker (Robert White Sr.); blended family, Carl Walker III., and Cheryl Walker. Grandchildren, Denishia Roquemore, Dennison Roquemore Jr., Damien Roquemore (Martina Roquemore), Asia Hubb, Wayne Hubb Jr, WyAna (Onnie) Hubb, Courtney Walker, Paul Walker Jr, Xavier Walker, Chris Jones, Marcus Jones, Capria Hubb, Aaliyah Hubb, Laila Hubb, Nevaeh Hubb, Robert White Jr., Shaniqua White; twenty-five Great grandchildren; and long-time best friend, Fannie Nesbitt and family.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2023 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, 870 St Clair Ave, Columbus, OH 4320. Burial will follow in procession to Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
