Florence Mann was born to the late Sam and Lula Gilbert in Dalton, Georgia. To many of her loved ones, she was known more affectionately as “Floy”, “Aunt Flo”, or “Mom” as her grandchildren so lovingly referred to her. Florence worked in childcare, and was a dorm mother to students enrolled at The Ohio State University. She loved to spend time working in her garden and working with her beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed thrift shopping for bargains, listening to gospel music, and spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She had a strong relationship with God. On Thursday, November 3, 2016, just days before her 102nd birthday, Florence departed this earthly life while residing at Whetstone Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her husband William H. Mann, son William K. Mann, grandsons, William Mann and Clyde Mann, brothers, Pearlman, Raymond, Booker, and Noah, and sisters, Ethel, Ella, Lilla Mae and Leola. Those who remain to cherish memories of Florence include her daughter Linda Mann; grandchildren, Tina Marlowe, Starlena, Kyria, Shirley, and Donald Mann; and a host of other family members and friends. She will be truly missed by her family.
