Florence Maxine Croner Allen Blake, 93, departed this life to join her heavenly family on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. She was the last survivor of ten blessed children born to Bert and Inez Croner in Rendville, Ohio. She was a graduate of Corning High School and spent many wonderful years exploring the hills and valleys of Perry County. After spending several years in Columbus and striving for better things in life. Curiosity and boredom led her to enlist in the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). This became the best decision of a lifetime. Many schools attended, travel experiences, many first opportunities as a black individual. She was honorably discharged as a commissioned Officer in 1946. She was employed for 20 years at DCSC retiring with many commendations in 1975. During this time, she also spent three years attending OSU Twilight School. She was a devoted member of St. Philip Lutheran Church for over 50 years. Serving in many inspiring programs. Preceded in death by parents; loving husband of 42 years George C. Blake, Sr.; daughter Barbara J. Allen; The Croner Family; 1 brother, Larry; 3 sisters, Doris, Ruth and Betty Jane who passed away in infancy; brothers, Bert Jr., Paul Croner; sisters, Belia Warren, Eloise McCaine and Inez Allen. She leaves to cherish her memory beloved son, Dwight J. Allen; 3 step sons, George Jr. (Alice), Russell (Lorna) and Ronald Blake; step daughter, Arlene Bates; sisters-in-law, Della Blake, Mary (Bud) Walker and Margaret Croner; numerous nieces, nephews; grandchildren; precious guardian angel, Frances Austin.
