Floyd Dobbins, Jr. was born February 15, 1939 in Moundville, Alabama, where he is fondly remembered by the nickname Sonny. A longtime resident of Columbus, Ohio, Floyd passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Echo Manor Healthcare Center of Pickerington. Floyd served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. Prior to his retirement from the workforce, he was employed by The City of Columbus. Floyd was preceded in death by one son, Henry Hall, father, Floyd Dobbins, Sr., mother, Adell (Jack) Owens, and one brother Floyd Lewis Dobbins. Left to cherish memories of Floyd are his children, Derrick (Theresa) Dobbins of Blacklick, Ohio, Angela Dobbins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Tamah “Tammy” (Javan) Yisrael of Lewis Center, Ohio; sister Carolyn Harper of Laurel, Mississippi; brother Anthony (Doris) Searles of Washington, DC; five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
