Sutton Floyd Rufus Sutton, Sr., age 89 fell to sleep peacefully Monday November 10, 2014 at home. Preceded in death by his parents, David and Ardella; his Wife, Juanita, son Floyd Jr (Lillie); brothers, Elmer, Joseph, Quincy and Chester; sisters, Mae Oma Sutton, Dorothy Broomfield, Katherine Sutton and Mattie Avery. Survived by his brother, Sylvester (Barbara) Sutton; Children, David (Patricia), Rudolph (Sylvia) Sutton, Kathryn (Joseph) Harper, Vicky (Tyrone) Walters, Debra (Brock) Edmondson, Tonja (Douglas) Edwards, sister in laws Violetta McGrone, Rosetta (Charles) Moothery, Linda (James) Waldon, Roxy (Byron) Rudy and brother-in-laws Arthur Broomfield, Keith and Joseph Long, 24 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close friends and family. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, then working for the Terre Haute Depot, the City of Columbus, and U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1981. He was a master carpenter working with local retailer’s Durants and Schottensteins repairing/refinishing furniture. He was a member of the VFW Local 3764 and Just Us Jazz Club until his illness.
