Foster Arnold

FOSTER ARNOLD, son of the late Moses and Mary Arnold, was born on April 1, 1918 in Laurens County, South Carolina. He received his education at Chapman Grove High School in Belton, South Carolina. Foster moved to Ohio in 1936, working a variety of jobs. Inducted into the U.S. Army on September 22, 1941, Foster as honorably discharged in 1945, having participated in campaigns throughout Central Europe, Northern France and the Rhineland. While stationed in Louisiana, he met and married Marie Wright Arnold; a marital partnership that span 70 years. To this union, three children were born. Foster accepted Christ at an early age and joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Princeton, South Carolina. Upon moving to Columbus, Marie and Foster joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church and have been good and faithful members for over sixty years. Foster retired as a Mechanic Supervisor from the City of Columbus in 1974, after 33 years. Foster was an avid sportsman who enjoyed restoring old cars, fishing, hunting, boating, and traveling. He was the Mister Fix-It for family and friends. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend exchanged this earthly life for life everlasting on Monday, December 10, 2012. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Chalmer, DeMaurice and Capers and four sisters, Lucille, Teola, Christine and Margie Lee. He leaves to cherish his memory: Marie, his wife; two daughters, Rose Morgan and Jacqueline Martin; son, Michael Arnold; four grandchildren, Dr. Sherri Morgan of Dallas, Texas, Bradford (Tonja) Morgan, Gwendolen (Quartez C.) Page- Traylor and Anthony (Amyia) Page; seven great grandchildren, Cierra, Sarah, Anthony II, Avante’, Amonyai, Aniyah, and Aallyah Page; two great-great grandchildren, Josiah and Joshua Page and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
