Frances Mae Coleman, better known as “Frankie”, aged 74, died peacefully on May 7, 2013 at OSU East Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Frankie was born July 11, 1938, in Inkster, Michigan, the daughter of Willie and Venice Jackson. She graduated from Inkster High School in 1956. She worked for many years at the University of Michigan as a Nurses Aide. For over 40 years, she worked for the State of Michigan as a Psychiatric Nurse and Supervisor for Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital and as a Mailroom Clerk. Education was very important to her and she continued to learn her entire life. In 1970, while working at Northville, she met and fell in love with Floyd N. Coleman. They married in Inkster, Michigan in front of friends and family in September 1972. They moved to Detroit, Michigan to raise their family. They remained in Detroit for 28 years until his death in 2000. Frankie was a member of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Detroit, Michigan. She enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite things to do were to watch horror movies, learn new technology, watch HGTV, and just laugh. Since retirement, in 2012, she moved to Columbus, Ohio to spend more time with her granddaughters, Tianna and Sierra. Frankie is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Venice Jackson, sisters Gloria Brown and Phyllis Jackson, and husband Floyd Coleman. Frankie is survived in life by her children, Mark (Cheree) Jackson, Denise Jackson, Clayborn Beverly, Stacey (Emmanual) Beverly and D’Shahn Coleman. She also leaves behind three sisters, Barbara (Paul) Walker, Betty (Doland) Brown, and Carla Jackson; and two brothers, Freddie Spann and Willie (Bert) Jackson. She was extremely close to her granddaughters D’Von Jackson, Tianna Battle and Sierra Martin. They were her passions and delight. She also has a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that loved her. Frankie will be missed by her extended family and friends.
