Franklin Weldon Sharp was born in Clintonville, West Virginia on November 2, 1932 to the late Jesse Lee and Myrtle Sharp. He loved to play the harmonica and to dance. Just spending time with his family was truly his passion. He married his soul mate, Mary Elizabeth Carter, with whom he loved to travel. Franklin treasured and valued his family and loved his wife dearly. They were inseparable. He loved playing lottery tickets, thinking one day he would hit the “Mega”. He was honorably discharged from the United States Army. He retired from Buckeye Steel and Oakland Day Center. Franklin passed away on August 11, 2012 in his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Sharp; son, James Cunningham; his parents; and brothers, Roy, Oscar Jethro, Alfonzo, Leon and Lawrence. He is survived by his daughters, Loretta Cunningham-Glenn and Barbara (Donald) Anderson; son, Vernon Cunningham; Elenora Lewis, Dorothy, White, Theodore (Alice) Sharp; grandchildren, Andrew Johns, Tasha Smelley, Jamiah, Jaquita, Sesiem, George, Schray and Dean Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great grandchildren.
