Fred McCain, Jr., affectionately known to many as "Yogi," was born August 18, 1933 in Omar, West Virginia. He was a graduate of Aracoma High School, in Logan, West Virginia, where he was inducted into the Aracoma High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Fred was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, during which he drove the "meat wagon" collecting dead soldiers. He retired from the United States Postal Service after a 37-year career as a letter carrier. Fred was a die-hard Cleveland Browns fan and an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, bowler and baseball player. He was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining his family and friends. On March 31, 2020, at the age of 86, Fred passed away while at the Meadow Grove Transitional Care Center in Grove City, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred McCain, Sr. and Viva Owens McCain, brother Phillip, sisters, Sandra, Marian and Vi, and son Phillip Andre McCain. He is survived by his daughter Terri McCain-Taylor of Columbus, Ohio; sister Jean (Ted Sr.) Lynn of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, two "adopted" grandsons; special niece Reka Carter; special friends, Leon and Fred; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
