Frederick "Freddy" Chenault was born November 16, 1942. He passed away May 5, 2020, at the age of 77. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio, where he attended the public school system and graduated from East High School. For much of his adult life, Fred was employed at DCSS until a work-related accident caused him to retire. Many people will remember Fred working as a coordinator for Life Care Alliance, with Joyce Taylor and Babette Taylor at the Mount Vernon Plaza High Rise Building. Fred was a great poet and song writer, and he continued to do so until his last days. He had many accomplishments; however, he was most proud of the two CDs ("Saved Right Now" and "I Must Be Right") which he recorded with his group, The Mighty Supremes (Albert Jones and Gail Horton). Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley Chenault, Sr. and Della Lyles, and siblings, Stanley Chenault, Jr., Charles Chenault, Dorothy Chenault, Wilbert Chenault, Mary Jones, Louis Chenault and Margaret Chenault. He is survived by a host of relatives including Robert (Roberta) Jones, Kevin (Kelly) Robinson, James Robinson, Sharlyn Robinson, Karen Robinson, Cynthia Jones. Although Fred was never married, he and Justin Mitchell developed a special father-son bond over their 20 years of friendship. Due to the current global health crisis, Fred will be laid to rest with a private graveside ceremony in Eastlawn Cemetery. Loved ones and friends are invited to join in celebrating Freddy’s life by sharing fond reflections and words of encouragement with one another on his online memorial tribute wall at www.diehl-whittaker.com.
