Geneva Wilma Durr, age 90, formerly of Bucyrus, died peacefully in her sleep at her Westerville home. She was born August 31st, 1926 in Pennsylvania to the late David and Lucy Ramsey, and she is preceded in death by her husband, Charlie, children Charlie, Jr., Waltereen Nickerson, Richard Durr and several siblings. She is survived by her children Darlene Ballard; Deborah (Layne) Sutton; David (Janet) Durr; Charlene Durr; Tracy Durr; grandchildren Stephanie (Sharard) Vaughn and Jonnelle Ballard; Abigail Sutton; Richard Durr, Jr.; Christina (Steven) Stropes; David (Amanda) Janning; Marcus (Ciara) Durr and Lyndsay Durr; Brittany Durr and Anthony (Tiffany) Durr; and 10 great grandchildren. Geneva was a mother to many and her commitment to her family and friends was only second to her strong faith in God. She commonly would say, “God is awesome!” even when the diagnosis was not positive or she was experiencing intense in pain. Geneva’s focus on God’s goodness remained clear and unshakeable even until her last breath. She had a love of angels, and she was especially pleased to share that they remained around her as she was nearing her transition to heaven. In addition to being known for her dedication to others and her strong faith in God, Geneva was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and an Ohio State Buckeye football enthusiast. Those were her “boys” and she loved to cheer them on. She would remark that whatever food her children made “was the best she had ever eaten”. Geneva has left her heart print on those who had the blessing of knowing her and she has also left the blue print of how to be a faithful servant of God and a kind friend to all. The family wishes to express extreme gratitude to all who comforted, guided and supported Geneva these last few months, especially, Dr. Nami Cho, Dr. P. Kothai Sundaram, the experts at the Radiology Department at St. Ann’s Hospital, the nurses from Mt. Carmel Home Care and, of course, the real-life angels from Hospice Services at Methodist ElderCare who carried all of us.
