Georgia Laura Maddox

Georgia Laura Susie Ogletree Maddox was born in Birmingham, AL on June 18, 1919 to the late Walter and Ginny Ogletree. As a child she and her parents moved to LaGrange, GA where as a young woman she met her future husband, Otis Maddox. Early in their marriage they relocated to Columbus, OH and joined Bethany Baptist Church. In later years she joined the Lillie Barksdale Mission Circle. Georgia was not a person who wanted to be in the limelight, but preferred to work behind the scenes doing whatever she could to be of assistance to those in need. In her younger years she provided in-home child care for many children, including her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband. She leaves to celebrate her life, cherish her memory, and carry on her legacy Two Daughters: Helen E. (Rev. John M.) Sanders; Eva J. (Ronald L.) Collins; One Son, Melvin S. Maddox; Four Grandchildren: Hernan D. Collins, Hedia E. (Ali) Diawara, Samara D. (Heath L.) Tillman, Jevon M. (Crystal) Sanders; Four Great Grandchildren: Jevon Diawara, Ava Collins, Hayden Tillman and Helen Diawara; Cousins: Ivenia O’Neal and family (Belleville, MI) and Alberta Jones family (Dayton, OH); One precious Sister (in Law), Mrs. Mabel Maddox Wilhite, (Vienna, GA); One nephew (Vienna, GA); Many nieces and nephews (LaGrange, GA); Willette E. Sanders Family (Anderson, SC Lilburn, GA); Honorary Daughters: Beverly Hawkins, Theresa (Apostle LaFayette) Scales, Eula Mae Johnson, Phyllis Day, Annette Barber, and Carmella Robinson; Very Special Friends: Mae Branch, Benny Branch, and Mr. Mrs. Harold Anglin. ALL THAT I AM AND ALL THAT I EVER HOPE TO BE, I OWE TO MY ANGEL MOTHER!
