Gerald Christopher “Jerry” Alfred Sr., 55, born August 17, 1955 in Columbus, Ohio, departed this life on Monday, January 10, 2011. Preceded in death by father Maurice T. Alfred, Sr., maternal grandparents Percy and Geraldine Reynolds, paternal grandparents Napoleon Rachel Rayford (Pete Alfred), and aunt Dolly Westbrook. He leaves his legacy of love to his daughter Geneva Alfred-Thomas (Lance); sons, Adonus, Martinus and Christopher; step-daughter Loretha Jackson; beloved mother Barbara Alfred; stepfather John Redd; brother Maurice T. Alfred, Jr. (Sharon); sister Denise Martin; stepbrother Shawn Alfred; former wife Carletta Alfred; cherished grandchildren, Sean, Gene, N’yema, Taylor, Sloane, Sergil, Samir, Jamir, Kalyce and J’Cory; nieces, Darlene Phillips (Alphonso), Jerri Martin, and Shar-Reese Alfred; nephews Robert Martin and Joseph Graves; cousins, William Young II, Bobby Young, (Habu Westbrook-deceased) and a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, his special friends, Robert Slover, Kim, and JP, as well as “Everyone On The Block” and the Eastside of Columbus. Celebration of Life 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long Street, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the start of service.
