Gerald R. Franklin, 60, affectionately known as Jerry was raised on the east side of Columbus, Ohio. After losing his mother as a late teen, Jerry and his twin brother resided with their Aunt Helen. He attended Columbus Public Schools, graduating from East High School in 1972. He later went on to attend Columbus Technical Institute (now known as Columbus State University). He was active in the Columbus area, and was formerly married to Trina Hayes. His employment history started with the Columbus Urban League, Ohio Bureau of Unemployment Compensation and employment Services, City of Columbus Department of Human Services, and the Ohio Department of Aging. Jerry was active in Republican politics, an avid golfer, served as Congregational President of St. Philip Lutheran Church, and was a member of the Near Eastside Commission and President of the Central Ohio Young Republican Club. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Carolyn Franklin, aunt Helen O. Bryant, and various other Franklin family relatives. He leaves to cherish his memory son, Anthony Adams; twin brother, Charles Franklin; cousin, Rene Triggs; special cousin/”uncle”, Wade H. Franklin III.; cousins, Larry Johnson and Noel Christopher Johnson; Francis Johnson, Nancy Bowman, Jacquilla Bass, Charles Hunt III. all of Columbus, Ohio, Vicki Smith all of Dayton Ohio, and Tyra Witsell of Orlando, Florida; and a host of other relatives and friends.
