Geraldine Anderson Ramseur

December 18, 1930 — August 7, 2012

Geraldine Anderson Ramseur, daughter of the late Henry Lang Anderson and Anna Anderson, was born on December 18, 1930 in Columbus, Ohio. She attended the Columbus Public School system graduating from East High School in 1948. She recognized the importance of a good education and continually sought to improve her skills. She was a graduate of Methodist Theological Seminary, attended Columbus Technical Institute of Applied Sciences, and Josephinum Pontifical College. She was employed at Mercy Hospital for many years in the position of Licensed Practical Nurse. She continued her studies in nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She volunteered at nursing homes and at the Community Health Center. Geraldine was a life long, faithful and active disciple of Trinity Baptist Church, having served in the Music Ministry as organist, pianist, Major Choir member, and with the Harmony Force Shape Note Singers. She served in the Health Care Ministry and was very outspoken about church members maintaining good health habits. Geraldine served as pianist to the Hebron Baptist Church, in Columbus, Ohio, where the Reverend William Pinckney serves as Pastor. She was an avid fan of all Ohio’s sports teams, and all political talk shows. Geraldine was a member of many organizations including National Association of Negro Musicians, American Guild of Organists, and the Gamma Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated. In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by husbands, Mark Watson and William “Billy” Ramseur, brothers, Robert Anderson and Howard Anderson, sister Mildred Woods, nieces, Leonja Phillips and Renee Woods, and nephew Phillip Anderson. On Tuesday, August 7, 2012, Geraldine was called to eternal rest. She leaves to cherish her memory, brother Lawrence Anderson; nieces, Cynthia Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia, and Deidre Jones of California; nephews, Atty. Robert Anderson of Chicago, Illinois, and Howard L. “Tito” Anderson; brother-in-law Bennie Woods; sister-in-law Cecelia Anderson; aunts, Marchane Hawkins and Alice Williams of Paris, Tennessee; stepchildren, Angela Miller, Steve Ramseur, and Eric Ramseur, all of Statesville, North Carolina; along with many cousins, other relatives, church family and friends.
