Gewon Lacarrett Stevens-Johns

June 17, 1960 — January 15, 2019

Gewon LaCarrett Stevens-Johns age 58, was born in Columbus, Ohio to Bobby Angelle and Carolyn Lois Eaves on June 17, 1960. Gewon departed this life on January 15, 2019. She attended Marion Franklin High School and later graduated from North High School in 1982. She graduated from Columbus State Community College landing two associate degrees, one in Secretarial Science and the other in Word Processing. In addition to the two degrees, she earned a certificate in Education. She is preceded in death by her beloved mother Carolyn L. Eaves, sister Kelly D. Stevens-Reynolds and nephew Victor L. Stevens. Gewon leaves to cherish, her husband Vincent E. Johns Sr., daughter Tallie L. Johns, son Vincent E. Johns Jr, father Bobby Angelle, mother in law, Lillie Matthews, grandchildren: Tawon L. Johns, Niran L. Johns-Carroll, brother Earl Eaves, sisters Eris Eaves, Leslie Eaves, Tanja Angelle, Charlene Angelle and a whole host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and special friends. Gewon had an unparalleled zest for life. In her spare time, she enjoyed writing poetry. In high school she was known throughout the city for her mean backhand in tennis and competitors far and wide would challenge her but gained little victory on the court. Gewon lived life to the fullest and will be missed by all of "my people." She had the type of personality that knew no strangers. Gewon deemed herself as a fashionista and the life of the party. Those close to her will never forget her famously “juicy” kisses because she’d deliver them to you with every encounter and leave lipstick all over your face. From time to time Gewon would start a conversation with “we need to talk.” During these moments she would impart some knowledge and wisdom to you, ultimately, she made sure to “keep it one hundred.” What she said always made a true difference, because no matter how she presented the information, you somehow knew that deep down she cared, even if you didn’t want to hear it. Gewon loved God. Gewon also cared so much for her family and friends and was willing to do anything to make sure they were okay. Gewon will truly be missed and her family plans to keep her legacy alive and to carry her spirit with them every day. --
