Gladys M. Forquer; (affectionately called Ms. Gladys) was born on September 8, 1935 to the late Lloyd Gray and Hattie B. Gray in Electric Mill, Mississippi. She attended Elkhorn High School in Northfork, West Virginia. Gladys married John Henry Martin of Kimball, West Virginia and became the proud mother of three children. John Henry Martin Jr, of Oahu, Hawaii, Sharon Sue Martin- Jones (Calvin Jones) of Dayton, Ohio, and Lloyd D. Martin (Patricia A. Carter-Martin) also of Dayton, Ohio. Ms. Gladys is preceded in death by her (1st Husband) John Henry Martin Sr. (Sister) Lessie Burgess, (Brother), LTG Robert Gray, (Brother) Lloyd Gray, (Husband) Donald T. Forquer and her (Mother) Hattie B. Gray. Ms. Gladys is survived by her (Son) John Henry Martin Jr, (Daughter) Sharon Sue Martin-Jones and (Son) Dr. Lloyd D. Martin. (Sister) Geraldine Hancock, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and many, friends. Ms. Gladys moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1965 and she was determined to better her life and the lives of her children. Therefore, she received her high school diploma while enrolled in the Columbus Technical Institute (CTI), She continued her education and later graduated with her nursing license; (tying for the second highest score in the state of Ohio on the state nursing licensing exam). After marrying Donald T. Forquer (1982), she retired from serving patients at the OSU hospital becoming a snow- bird with her husband Don living in both Florida and Ohio. Ms. Gladys loved God and she introduced her children to Jesus early in their lives, taking them to church each Saturday while she was worshipping at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kimball, West Virginia. Her commitment to God continued after moving to Columbus in 1965. Gladys became an active member of Hilltop Seventh Day Adventist Church serving as an Usher, Deaconess, and Sabbath School Teacher, All the while working in the food pantry and serving wherever else she could both in the church and in the community. Ms. Gladys loved fishing, reading, and spending time with family, often helping those in need.
