On Thursday, August 15, 2024, Gladys Moody peacefully entered eternal rest at her residence in Columbus, Ohio.
Gladys was born on September 30, 1935, in Union County, South Carolina to the late Rev. Joseph W.
Degraphenreid Sr. and Queen Gilliam Degraphenreid.
She graduated from Stephens Lee High School in Asheville, North Carolina.
She was married to the late Willie Mack Moody. After moving to Columbus, Ohio, she became a member of the
Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where she sang on the choir.
Gladys achieved work at Glenwood Range Company in Delaware, Ohio for 30 years. After retirement she did home
assistance healthcare.
Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Joseph Degraphenreid, mother, Queen Ester Degraphenreid,
and her siblings: Mary Azalee Lindsey, Thomas Brazelle Degraphenreid, Joseph "Joe" Jr. Degraphenreid, Wallace
Degraphenreid, Mamie Petty, Martha "Mart" White, Mattie Belt Saxton, Major Gary "Gay Boy" Degraphenreid,
Elsie Hollis.
She leaves to cherish her memories, sons, Kelvin (Lisa) and Derrick Moody (Columbus, OH); sisters, Joyce Durham
(Spartanburg, SC), and Queen E. Degraphenreid; four grandchildren: Derrick Moody (Columbus, OH), Ebone Lewis
(Phoenix, AZ), Nakeesha Moody (Columbus, OH), Shamia (Myron) Hobbs (Columbus, OH); three great-grandchildren,
Myron, Dakir, and Anaiylah Hobbs and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
