Glenn Douglas Jones was born on September 23, 1951 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to the union of the late Emmett Jones Sr., and the late Mable McGee Jones. The family moved to Columbus, Ohio on January 1, 1956. Glenn attended First Pentecostal Church of Charity where he received Christ as his personal Savior at the age of 12. When Glenn graduated from Linden McKinley High School, he also received a Certificate in Auto Body Repair, a trade he became very skillful in. He also had a nickname in school called "Reverend Lowdown" that gained him much respect. If you found yourself in trouble with a bully, Reverend Lowdown had a way of coming to your rescue to save you. He became very popular, as well as feared, because of this reputation. Glenn met the love of his life and after several years of dating, he married Linda Smith on April 7, 1978. They are the proud parents of a daughter, Crystal; and a son, Lamonte. He also became affectionately known as "Poppa G" as his grandchildren were born, a name he greatly adored! Glenn started his own business, Glenn's Body Shop, in September of 1978 and was located at 986 Cleveland Avenue in Columbus. He not only served the community in doing auto body repair on their vehicles, but God also used him in many ways as people would visit his place of business. He mentored many young men and became a father figure to them, and he also fed the hungry. As he grew and matured in his relationship with Christ, he witnessed about Jesus to many. Glenn was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and he loved fishing, boating and camping. Glenn had a passion for music, and he would write, arrange and produce music. Even though he had the ability to play many instruments, his strongest gift was his ability to play anointed music on his tenor saxophone. In his lifetime, starting as a teenager, he had the opportunity to play in many bands and with gospel groups, as well as with praise and worship teams. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Jones Sr. and Mable McGee Jones; his oldest brother, Emmett Jones Jr.; and his youngest brother, Sheldon Jones. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Linda Jones; his daughter, Crystal (Rick) Shepherd; his son, Lamonte (Paula) Jones; his grandchildren, Jazmine Shepherd, Kadijah Jones, Kalia Jones, Kyndal Jones, and Kaleb Jones; his sister, Marion Brown; a special cousin, Roy (Shirley) Jones and a host of nieces, nephews; cousins, in-laws and many special friends.
