Gordon L. Dunson

June 3, 1939 — December 10, 2012

Pastor Gordon L. Dunson was born June 3, 1939 in Swickley, Pennsylvania. As a young man, Gordon enlisted as a serviceman in the United States Army and, after three years of active duty, he received his honorable discharge in 1957. He later retired from the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services where he was employed as a Compliance Representative. Gordon was licensed for the work of ministry in August 1984, and was later ordained under Pastor Brenda Brown at The House of Prayer of Hope and Deliverance, where he faithfully served as a devoted Associate Pastor. Gordon's message to the masses was Love God, Love One Another, and Obey God's Word. He often would say, If I have helped somebody as I traveled in this land, then my living has not been in vain. Pastor Dunson departed this earthly life on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was predeceased by his wife Rev. Diane Elaine Dunson, parents Gordon H. Dunson, Sr. and Lucille Dunson, brothers, Clyde Dunson, Johnny C. Wimbs, Theodore R. Wimbs, and Ronald S. Dunson, and nephew Lance Wimbs. Gordon leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted friend of 38 years, Brenda J. Brown; stepdaughters, Charlotte (Lester) Fields, Pamela Brown, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Janey (Shawn) Abram of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; stepsons, Phillip Morris, Robert Morris, and Gregory Morris, all of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; nieces, Priscilla Dupre, Lana Dillard, Terri (Craig) Platt, all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Gale Wimbs of Houston, Texas; nephews, John Wimbs, Jr. of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and Troy Wimbs of Cleveland, Ohio; great niece Chanda Ellison of Houston, Texas; great nephews, Desmon (Brandi) Martin, Marlon Platt, both of Columbus, Ohio, and Jolon Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; first cousin Lucille Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; special friend Roy Rowland; twenty-two grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. Our special thanks is extended to the medical personnel and staff of the 8th floor, ICU and CCU teams at Grant Medical Center.
