Gradella Isom 'Ms. Boot' Barton

Gradella Isom Barton, age 86, cherished wife, mother, nanny, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2013. Gradella was born October 12, 1926. She married her childhood sweetheart Albert Barton on February 19, 1945 and from this union, five children were born: Albert, Charles, Duane, Spencer, and Gradella. Gradella was loyal employee of Madison's Inc. for thirty-five years; she was the manager of their Distribution Center for over twenty years. Gradella was a devoted member of Second Baptist Church, where she served on the Women's Usher Board, Youth Advisor, Youth Usher Board Advisor, Trustee Ministry, member of the Personnel Committee, and mentor for the New Member and Women's Fellowship. She completed the Seven Year Bible Study Fellowship program (BSF). Preceded in death by parents, Grace L. Penn and Charles T. Isom, stepfather William Boyer, and husband of sixty-five years, Albert Barton. She leaves to celebrate her life, her devoted and loving children, Charles (Anne Marie) of Sweden, Duane Barton, Spencer Barton, and Gradella (Terrance) Holliman; godsons, Elder Leslie B. Cole and Bruce Nelson; thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; sister Katheryn Woodruff; sister-in-law Otera Ledbetter; special niece Mary Elizabeth Wilder; cousins Kenneth Penn and Cheryl Adams; childhood friend Diana Ferguson; special neighbors Ernest and Denise Suber; and a host of other family members and dear friends.
