Harold Dean Glover age 91 years old departed this earth on March 28, 2021 as a result of complications from COVID-19. He was born on November 14, 1929 in Anniston, Alabama. Harold moved to Ohio at the age of 4 with his family where he was educated in the Columbus Public School System. He was an alumnus of East High School and attended Franklin University. Harold was baptized and joined Love Zion Baptist Church and continued to keep his faith in God. During the Korean War, Harold honorably and proudly served active duty as a Military Police Officer in the United States Army. He also volunteered his time and was actively involved in the East Columbus Civic Association to help improve the quality of life for residents in the community. Over the years, Harold managed several successful supper clubs. Most notably, he trailblazed the first integrated Midwest club known as the Black and Tan for the world renowned 502 Club in Columbus Ohio. Harold recruited local and international entertainment live jazz acts to perform. He is recognized for his cultural contribution in the book "Listen For The Jazz". He played a significant role in bringing jazz music lovers from all ethnicities and walks of life together in a classy style and atmosphere. In addition, it is where he met his loving wife Barbara. Harold is preceded in death by his parents James and Lucy Glover; daughters Helena and Robin; grandson Vincent Johnson; sisters and brothers-in-law; Betty (Troy) McCurdy, and Emma (Marvin) Freeman. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 61 years Barbara; daughters Kandace Watkins, Nannette (Geoffrey) Taylor, Debbie (Charles) Taylor, Denise (Dave) Thomas, brother Bobby (Linda) Glover; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be sadly missed as the family Patriarch and by all who knew him.
