Harold Edward “Briefy” Sullinger, Jr. was born October 17, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio. He was a 1970 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, New Jersey, where he was also a member of the 1969-1970 New Jersey State High School Basketball Championship team. Harold completed two years at the University of Iowa before joining the United States Marine Corps where he graduated top of his class in demolition. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1977. In 1988-1989, Harold served as President of the Parent Teacher Association at Trevitt Elementary School in Columbus, Ohio. He was a licensed Realtor in Missouri, Ohio, New Jersey and Florida. His proudest moments were watching both of his children graduate from college and loudly cheering on his nephews at their basketball games. He loved to tell jokes, to laugh and to eat lots of good food and spend time with his beloved friends and family. Harold departed this life on December 3, 2010. He was preceded in death by his father Harold E. Sullinger, Sr. and Sarah Johnson. He leaves to cherish his memory, two children: son, and daughter, Brie Lauren Sullinger; wife and dear friend Mona D. Sullinger; mother Betty J. Sullinger-Moore; siblings, James (Barbara) Sullinger, Bill (Erma) Moore, Wilbur H. Moore, Dorothea (John) Saunders, and Annette Cox; aunt Blanche Cook; cousins, Marcel (Phyllis) Cook, Peter Lawson (Lisa) Jones, Rev. Jane Oasin, Phyllis Hinson, and Natalie (John) Glover; godson Seth Blackwell; special Friends, Stephanie Smith, Lavisse Smith, Ricky Brown, Barry Smith, Sam Cohen, The Steve Preston Memorial Tournament Golfers and the “Bud Boys”; and a host of other relatives and dear friends. The family will receive friends 1 – 3:00 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Love Zion Baptist Church, 1459 Madison Avenue. Funeral services and interment will be held Saturday, December 11, 2010 in Camden, New Jersey.
