Harriett Orinda “Bucky” Young, age 76, passed away on May 12, 2023 in Henderson, NV. Graduate of Columbus East High School and Ohio Dominican College. Former president of the Federated Democratic Women of Ohio. Former member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Former educator in the Columbus City Schools, retired as principal of Bear Flag Elementary School in the Sacramento Unified School District, and educator in the Clark County, NV School District. Served as Manager and Funeral Director of C.D. White and Son Funeral Home. Preceded in death by parents Grady T. Smith Sr. and Orinda W. Smith; brother, Grady T. Smith, Jr. Survived by devoted husband, James H. Young of Henderson, NV; son, Robert Langston Jr. of Henderson, NV; grandchildren Amaya and Robert III; sister, Judith (Curtis) Matthews of Lutherville Timonium, MD; cousins Cheryl (Victor) James, Bryan White, Jacqueline (Santell) Gardiner-Ford, Janet O’Driscoll, Charles (Theresa) Smith, Quentin P. (Beverly) Smith, Valerie Shaw, Pearl Daniel (Karen) White and Rebecca (James) Shaw, special friends Linda and Miguel Navarette, and a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.
