Harris Bowman

Dr. Harris C. Bowman was born on May 23, 1939 in Orlando, FL, son to Lucious Vester Bowman, Sr and Clara Gibson Bowman. After serving in the United States Air Force, he attended Wilberforce University. Dr. Bowman pursued a doctoral degree in Dentistry at The Ohio State University. Never one to take life lightly, it was during this time Dr. Bowman decided that alongside a private practice career in Dentistry, his true calling was teaching and educating others in the field. During his tenure at The Ohio State University, Dr. Bowman served as assistant professor of restorative and prosthetic dentistry, as a dentistry course director and director of refresher dental education. Dr. Bowman was selected as instructor of the year by the 1998 graduating class of the College of Dentistry. He held memberships in a variety of dental professional organizations and served on several college committees.

Though Dr. Bowman's life was full to the brim with his various pursuits and passions, he always made time for his extended family. After over 30 years of teaching and practicing as a dentist, Dr. Bowman hung up his coat and retired in 2015.

During his retirement, Dr. Bowman spent much of his time pursuing his absolute favorite hobby-- golf.

Dr. Bowman is preceded in death by his beloved wife Dr. Georgiana Hood Bowman; parents, Lucious Vester Bowman, Sr and Clara Gibson Bowman; brothers, Dennis Bowman, Lucious Vester Bowman, Jr., and John Bowman. Survived by sisters, Mary Frances Mitchell and Laila Maude Dennis; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Dr. Bowman requested no services be held and that his ashes be spread.
