Our beloved mother, Hattie M. Brown, age 95, passed away April 10, 2017 at Grant Hospital. She was born to the late Roosevelt and Annie Bell (Holmes) Copeland on December 18, 1921 in Shiloh, Georgia. She had 4 brothers (Virgil, Nesby, Samuel, Sanford) and 7 sisters (Rachel, Bonnie, Mildred, Doris, Mary (Cat), Betty, Marrell) all preceded her in death. Our mother’s beloved husband Bennie (2015), daughters, Ruth Dingess (2008), Cathy Brown (1995), and grandson Darrick Brown (1993) also, preceded her in death. Our mother was a devoted wife to her beloved late husband, mother of 13 children and a good homemaker. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. She was full of love, wisdom and strength. She was kind and generous. She was a supporter and encourager. She was never too proud to say “thank you” or “I am grateful” for all you have done for me.” She would not hold back her advice. She was straight forward with what she had to say, if she felt it would put you on the right path. She loved you enough to tell you the truth, even if you didn’t want to hear it or liked it. She loved you and her desire was for you to know and receive Jesus as Lord and Savior of your life. She was an awesome cook and loved holiday dinners and family gatherings. Our mother was a God fearing woman, in love with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And she knew where her hope and strength come from. She was a long time member at St. Matthew Fire Baptize Holiness Church, Columbus, Ohio, until her beloved husband, whom she chose to stay home with, became seriously ill. She leaves to cherish her love her beloved children: Ann Kenley, Nesby (Diane) Brown, Bennie M. Johnson, Shirley Brown, Joyce (Robert) Phillips, Ronald D. Brown, Robin Jardia, Larry Brown, Linda Brown, Paul Brown, and Penny Brown. She also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to honor and cherish her love. Thank You, Lord Jesus for blessing us with a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, friend and mentor. We are grateful! All glory, All honor, All praise belongs to You, Lord! Amen I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-9 (NKJV)
