Helen Margaret Burns

Helen Margaret (Palmer) Burns was born in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Grace Effie Palmer and the late George Philip Palmer Sr. Helen's first breath was January 11, 1940 and her last smile was July 4, 2019 in Columbus, Ohio. Helen graduated from Zanesville High School in Zanesville, Ohio in 1958. She received her Associate of Applied Science Degree from Columbus Statue University in 1993 in Mental Health / Chemical Dependency Technology. Helen was a fun, outgoing and loving mother, sister, and wife. As an avid sports fan, she would travel to see her grandkids and great nephews play basketball all over Ohio and Kentucky. Helen was very successful in her employment as a Nurses Aid at Ohio State University Hospital; as a Cottage Leader at Scioto Village School for Girls; and as a Case Manager for North Central Mental Health Services. Helen's was a doll collector and avid reader. She enjoyed antiquing, cross word puzzles, working out, traveling, and watching basketball, football, tennis, and figure skating. Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a brother Brent Palmer and her sister, Gwendoline Palmer. Helen leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Carl H. Burns, three children, Theron (Monica) Burns (Flemingsburg, KY), Brandon Burns (Columbus, OH), and Jennelle (Robert) Derricotte (Smyrna, GA). Brother-in-Laws William (Scheketa) Burns (Aurora, IL) and Melvin(Anna) Burns (Louisville, KY). Siblings Robert L Palmer (Zanesville, OH), Theodore D Palmer (Columbus, OH), Douglas E. (Maryjane) Palmer(Cuyahoga Falls, OH), George Philip (Rebecca) Palmer (Zanesville, OH). Grandchildren Toya Burns (Madison, WI), Darion Burns(Madison, WI), Aaliyah Johnson (Flemingsburg, KY), Madison Sparks (Flemingsburg, KY) and Logan Derricotte (Smyrna, GA). Helen also leaves behind over 30 nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, and great-great nephews. Helen will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
