Hettie M. Crockett was born February 16, 1933 to Daniel F. May and Alma Simmons May in Straight Creek, Kentucky. Hettie graduated from high school at the young age of 16. Whether she was cheering on the football team, singing with her church choir & sisters, or reciting a speech, Hettie was known to be an inspiration to everyone that she encountered. She was united in holy matrimony to Eugene T. Crockett on September 21, 1950. Their union blessed them with 6 beautiful children. Their marriage lasted 65 years before Eugene preceded her in death on December 10, 2015. Hettie worked as a Micro Bacteriology LabTech II at The Ohio state University Hospital where she retired after nearly 30 years of service. While she was very proud of her work at the hospital nothing brought her more joy than serving in the house of God. Hettie grew up in the church singing in the choir and competing in speech competitions from state to state. She competed in Washington D.C. in a national speech competition where she was awarded 2nd place winner. She served in many other areas in the church throughout the years such as The Usher Board, Working with the youth in Sunday school and Youth Church At 12th Avenue Baptist Church (Rev. Cleophus Kee) & Christian Assembly (Pastor Sam Farina) . Eugene and Hettie Crockett were founding members of P3 Ministries under the leadership of Pastors Michael and Lori Petersen at the time of their deaths. Hettie was preceded in death by her father and mother Mr. And Mrs. Daniel May her husband Eugene T. Crockett her eldest daughter Daracus (John) Booker, her 3rd child Steve (Frances) Crocket, her sisters Julia “Toots” Burton & Priscilla “Oola” Hall and brother Daniel “Baby Brother” May Jr. She leaves to celebrate her life sisters Virginia (Pearl) Lewis and Theodore “Thea” Sanders (Charlie); children, Phillip (Roxanne) Crockett, Toya (Percy McCullough) Smith, Gregory (Rhonda) Crockett, Shaunda (Darrell) Hardnet; stepson Gary (Janice) Jones; 27 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren. Also a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends
