Hilda Louise Neil Dobbins

On October 4, 1920 I was born to Charles A. & May R. Neil. The name given me was Hilda Louise. I was the 7th of 10 children. I received my formal education in the Columbus Public School system. I attended Fair Avenue Elementary, Franklin Jr. High and East High School. I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of 16 and was baptized by Elder M.S. Banfield at old Ephesus church then located at Cleveland and Spring Street. In April 1953 I married Kermit T. Dobbins and moved to Oberlin, Ohio where I continued my education. I attended and graduated from the Elyria Practical Nursing school, in Elyria, Ohio. I was president of my class, gave the class address and was editor of the yearbook. I was the Nurse Supervisor of Carter Nursing Home for 14 years in Oberlin, OH. After working 21 years in the Family Practice Dept. at the Oberlin clinic I retired in 1983. After retirement, I was a grandparent reader at the Eastwood Elementary school for 6 years and 5 years at the Park St. Seventh Day Adventist in Oberlin, Ohio. I received the Good Neighbor award in 1998-2011 and the Life Care Alliance Catherine Gille Spirit award. I was an active member in the Oberlin Park St Church for 49 years. In June of 2002 I moved back to Columbus to be near family. Upon my return to Columbus I became an active member of the Hilltop Church. Leave to mourn my passing, sister Jeannette M. Warren. Many, many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews, great, great nieces & nephews and 1 great, great, great nephew. Special niece Jacqueline Jackson and cousins. Loving church family in Oberlin and Hilltop church. Preceded in death by parents Charles and May Neil, husband Kermit, 4 brothers, Warren, Gerald, Roy & Ralph, 4 sisters, Lottie, Myrtle, Ina, and Nettie. I am now asleep in Jesus waiting for the call from the life giver, when the trumpet of God shall sound and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Don't go around with your head bowed low, rejoice and be glad. My trials are over and I promise to meet you on that cloud in the sky and we will be with Jesus forever more. Love you All, Hilda Dobbins
