Ida Mae (Adams) Slappy

Ida Mae Slappy, age 99, sunrise January 11, 1915, sunset February 5, 2014. The mother of 11 children, she was a member of St. Matthew F.B.H. Church, and retired from The Ohio State University Medical Center after 25 years of service. Predeceased by her parents, James and Willie Mae Adams, husband, Rev. Joseph Slappy, children, JoAnn Slappy, Margaret Fisher, and John Slappy; sisters, Willie Jacobs, Susie Hall, Vivian Adams, Margo Hawkins, Rosabell Winfrey, Gwendolyn Knox, Alice Brown, and Sydonia Neal, and son-in-law Benny Fisher. Left to cherish beautiful memories of their beloved, are her sons, Joseph (Lisa) Slappy of Columbus, OH, and Carl Slappy of Memphis, TN; daughters, Loretta Slappy, Wortise Carroll Slappy, Janice Slappy, Alice (Cecil) Williams, Ellen (Stephen) Dinkins, all of Columbus, OH, and Marion Greenwood of Atlanta, GA; daughter-in-law Drema Slappy; 102 grand- and great grandchildren; sister Wortise Moore of Chicago, IL; a host of nieces and nephews in TN, IL, and FL, and many other relatives, wonderful friends, and church family.
