Jack (Gaither) King was born May 15, 1922 in Roxboro, North Carolina. While living in North Carolina, he attended Elijah Grove Baptist Church. Mr. King later went on to live in New Jersey before moving to Columbus, Ohio, which became his permanent home. Upon moving to Columbus, Jack was hired as a custodian for Buckeye Federal Savings and Loans from which he retired after many years of service. His hobbies were gardening, traveling, coin collecting, playing the lottery, making wine and preserves, as well as cooking the best greens in town! On Friday, September 30, 2016, at the age of 94, Jack King passed away peacefully at home. His mother, Alberta Faulkner, and brothers, Junius and Classie, preceded him in death. Jack is survived by four children, Clarence Faulkner, Dynetta Lee, Cynthia (Melvin Sr.) Hutcherson, and Bobbie (Jerry) Hawkins; six grandchildren, Steven Faulkner, Robin (Marcellus) Kiser, Nichole Martin, James Hutcherson, Jr., Danielle (Brandon) Jones, and Jerry Hawkins, Jr.; thirteen great grandchildren, Kameron, Trae, Jasmine, Justin, Darien, Nicholas Sr., Hope, Nathaniel, Joseph, Je'Vontae, Denzell, Jayla, and Jamir; one great-great grandchild Nicholas Jr., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
