Jacqueline Josephine (Hardy) Smith

Jacqueline Josephine (Hardy) Smith fell asleep in death peacefully surrounded by family on August 19, 2017.  She was born July 2, 1943 in Columbus to Bessie Mae Braxton and Willis Oliver Hardy. Jackie, as she was affectionally called, joined and was baptized as a child at Gay Street Baptist Church under Rev. Fincher and later joined Galilee Baptist Church under Pastor Henry J. Scott. She graduated from East High School in 1961. Later she graduated from CTI with an Associate’s of  Business Management. She retired from the US Postal service where she worked as a machine operator for many years. She was preceded in death by her biological parents, her adoptive parents Carl and Mabel Porter, and her brothers, John Henry Braxton and Cecil Braxton. She is survived by her daughters, Courtney (Michael) Glaze, and Constance (Charles) Ballour; grandchildren, Cassandra (Jamar) Haynes-Lee,  Michael Glaze, Jr., Christian (Michael) Carethers,  David Ellison, Caleb Bush, Cameron Jacobs, and Charday Ballour; great grandchildren, Judah, Jael, and Jedidiah Haynes Lee; and niece Caprina Braxton.
