Jacqueline Ann Kidd Waderker Betton, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 30, 2022. Jacqueline was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 13,1947 to William and Katherine Kidd.
Jacqueline was a proud graduate of South High School, Class of 1965, in Columbus, Ohio. Growing up she was involved in many extracurricular activities, including track, basketball, pep club, y-teens and played the viola in the orchestra. Jacqueline worked at the Franklin County Department of Welfare and Xerox where she did administrative work. In 1971, Jacqueline married Blaine Waderker and together they were blessed with three children.
Jacqueline accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at a young age at Hosack Street Baptist Church. Until the day of her transition, she remained a very active member of Hosack. She served faithfully as the ministry’s administrative assistant for 29 years under the leadership of the late Pastor Percy Carter, Jr., Pastor Trent Hayes, Pastor Daryl Hairston, the late Pastor Kenneth Byrd, and Pastor Jonathan Morehead. In addition, Jacqueline taught Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and participated in various ministries. She was involved in the Women’s Ministry, sang in multiple choirs and was a current member of the church’s Leadership Team.
Jacqueline loved to cook. Her specialties were baked beans, her delish deviled eggs, her amazing cheese ball, and her mouth watering Mississippi pot roast. In her spare time, she enjoyed shopping at the thrift store, watching her soaps, Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, and General Hospital, and weekly television shows, Hawaii Five O and The Good Wife. Jacqueline loved babies, church, plants, and the Ohio State Buckeyes! Jacqueline’s favorite hymn was Blessed Assurance.
Jacqueline loved her family dearly! She took trips with her family, spent the holidays with them, and deeply cared for them. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Luther and Theresa Byrd; parents William and Katherine Kidd; and her son Keith Waderker. She is survived by her husband of 22 years Reginald Betton, Sr.; children Kimberly (Elder Roderick, Sr.) Peeks, Brian Waderker, Sr. (Lisa Simón); siblings Donald Kirksey, Donley (Sheila) Kidd, Marilyn (Craig) Milner, and Angela (Alvin) Caldwell; sister-in-law Regina (Jeffrey) Parker; grandchildren Porscha (Rev. Caesar) Coney, Scharese Peeks, Kyra (Brandon) Mitchell, Brianna Waderker, Nichelle Peeks, Andres Waderker, Roderick Peeks, Jr., Brian Waderker, Jr., Matthew Peeks, Ariella Waderker, Jonathan Peeks, and Gerald Waderker; great grandchildren London Coney, Mackenzie Peeks, Braxton Coney, Noah Mitchell, and Gianna Baxter; special cousins Denise Mayo and Ashley Byrd; special friends Mrs. Betty Abbott, and Mildred Carter. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of loving family members and friends.
