Sunrise December 19, 1953 - Sunset September 2, 2014 Jacqueline Marie Grant, affectionately known as Jackie or Jacko, was born to Geraldine Giles Snyder and Joe Alexander Grant in Dayton, Ohio. She was an only child. At the age of 10, Jackie moved to Columbus, Ohio. Over the years, she met many great people and lifelong friends. She was a good person and a down to earth person; she always spoke her mind. When she spoke her mind, it wasn’t without dropping a few “B’s” and “F” bombs while doing so. Again, I say, she kept it real and didn’t care what anyone had to say about it. It’s rare to meet someone genuine and real in a lifetime; we were blessed to have her in ours. Although she wasn’t always around, she made sure her family was taken care of. Jackie was a hustler and a provider! Not only did she make sure her family was taken care of, she also would open her home to anyone that needed a place to stay. She was the type of person that would give the clothes off her back and the shoes off her feet and go out of her way to make sure everyone was straight. She was a genuine down to earth person with a big heart! Jackie enjoyed relaxing with her beer and cigarettes while spending time with her grandchildren; in her eyes, they could do no wrong. She’d let them do whatever they wanted and would have a few choice words to say if anyone said anything about or to her grandchildren. She loved them dearly and we know she will be watching over them all. The grandchildren loved to visit Grandma Jackie, not only to spend time with her but also to play with her two dogs, Pug and Donald. The dogs are part of the family and we know they will miss her dearly and we know she will be watching over them too. Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, as well as her son, Shawnte Jovan Grant, and grandmother, Mary V. Harper. She leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Alphonso (Artisia) and Aries Grant; one daughter, Nicole Grant; stepchildren, Delayne Whiteside, Jessica and Tony Bush, Diane and Deborah Stafford, and Misha McNeil; grandchildren, Phillip Burrell, Alphonso II, Jacques, Aimiya, Farrah, Alanna, Alyssia, Aries, and Alsaysha Grant; brother, Douglas Whiteside; favorite cousin, Georgina “GeeGee” McGill; best friend, Antoinette “Poohie” Foster and special friends, Kathy Burgess and Tonya Williams; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Everyone that knew Jackie would know that she would want us to celebrate her life and not dwell on her passing. She is in a better place and doesn’t have to hurt or struggle anymore. The family thanks you for all of the condolences and kind words; we know that with God’s grace and mercy we will get through this tough time in our lives. God Bless you all!!
