James “Jimmy” Carter, Sr., was born October 26, 1953 in Columbus, Ohio, where he attended Linden-McKinley High School. A retired brick mason, James was the founder of the Northside Cowboys Youth Football Association. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns fan. James also enjoyed bowling, coaching youth sports, cleaning his car, and spending time with his grandchildren. On March 24, 2018, at the age of 64, James passed away while at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Carter, Sr., and grandparents, Rev. James Carter Sr. and Aurie Carter. He is survived by his significant lady, Jacqueline M. Smith; daughters, Bridget Carter, Sheritta Carter, and Jatana Carter; sons, Jason Carter, James Carter, Jr., and stepson Keon Ward; mother Betty F. Carter; sisters, Sherrie A. Carter, Barbara J. (Garlin) Calloway, and Josephine Bailey; brother Joseph Carter, Jr. (Tina); uncle Rev. Jerry (Jacqueline) Carter; ten grandchildren, Taylor, Jody, Ja’Yona, Taylon, Jason, Isaiah, James III, Leigha, Lola, and Jeffrey Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
