James David Love, Sr.

James David Love, Sr., known to everyone as “David” was born April 1949 in Akron, Ohio to the late Anna May (McMullen) and Leon Sidney Love. He is preceded in death by his four siblings, Leon Sidney Love, Jr., Andrew Jackson Love II, and his youngest sibling, Elizabeth Love Poole. David graduated from John R. Buchtel High School, June 1967. David was a member of Wesley Temple AME Zion Church in Akron, Ohio where his great grandfather was the co-founder and grandfather was the first preacher in 1924. David had a love for music, was an avid trumpet player and traveled with his local band around the United States. An invitation for his band to appear at the Apollo Theatre Harlem, New York was one of the highlights of his career. David worked for the Summit County Municipal Court and was a resident of Akron for 70 years until recently moving to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to his family. David transitioned peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Columbus, Ohio.
