James Doelovon Mclendon

JAMES D. MCLENDON was born Sunday, February 27, 1983, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the son of Sandra Renee Kendricks. He was affectionately called “Tank” by family and friends. James attended Columbus Schools and graduated from Independence. He also attended and graduated from the Ohio State Barber College. James was employed with Kut City Barber Shop and One Wave Barbershop. He was skilled at creating amazing hair cut designs. In 2003, James met Miss Jennifer Erica Denise Williams. He knew he had met the love of his life and proposed four months after their first encounter. They were united in holy matrimony February 10, 2007. This union was blessed with one son, Quincy James McLendon. James often expressed that his family was the best thing that ever happened to him. James had a heart for young people and was committed to helping them. James mentored youth through sports. He was a football/ basketball coach for ten years. He coached for Midwest Youth Sports Football League, USA Youth Football League, and Woodward Park Recreation Center. James was a dedicated OSU Buckeye football fan. James’ love of football and his commitment to mentoring youth was shown nowhere more than with his son, Quincy. He spent many hours grooming his son for a football career. James enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. HE ENJOYED LIFE. James “Tank” McLendon entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 26, 2019. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Walter Kendricks. Loving memories are cherished by his wife of 13 years, Jennifer E. McLendon; son, Quincy J. McLendon; mother, Sandra Renee Kendricks; sisters, Jocelyn (Carl) Green, Angela McLendon, Tanisha McLendon, Ronda Kendricks, and Sylvia Stafford; brothers, Jordan Williams, Jeremy Walker, Terry McLendon, Riccardo Broomfield, Ronta Broomfield, and Walter Kendricks, Jr.; mother-in-law, Brenda Williams; and a host of other family members and friends.
