“A LIFE WELL LIVED FOR THE SERVICE OF GOD...” The Rev. Dr. James Frazier, Sr., was born October 5, 1928 to the late Lloyd and Ellen Ella (Levy) Frazier in Columbus, Ohio. He departed this life on Friday, August 24, 2018. He was the second of eight children. He was a product of the Columbus Public School system (East High School class of 1947). He retired as an auditor from the Internal Revue Service. He furthered his education by attending Capital University Conservatory of Music for piano, Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Southern Baptist Seminary for Pastoral Studies, Simmons College and Trinity College and Seminary. He served as the general instructor of introductory Greek and Hebrew for the Eastern Union Bible College, and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the Eastern Union Bible College for his many years of dedicated service as a faculty and financial supportive member. He has also served as a facilitator/instructor for various workshops and seminars sponsored by EUMBA and the OBGC. Dr. Frazier was very active within local, state, national and international settings by serving as Past Moderator of the EUMBA, Dean of the Baptist Ministerial Alliance, Elders Board for the Columbus Baptist Pastors’ Conference, Life Member, former musician, and Executive Council, OBGC, and Executive Board member, Lott Carey Foreign Missions. He was also a a member of the Free & Accepted Ancient York Masons (F&AAYM), and Baptist Training Union (BTU). He received his calling into the ministry while serving as a member of the Trinity Baptist Church of Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Frazier‘s first pastoral experience was at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, serving there for thirteen years prior to arriving at Antioch. On the first Sunday in January of 1980, Dr. Frazier accepted the call to pastor Antioch Baptist Church. Upon his arrival, he immediately saw many needs of the church and he began to work. He accepted the challenge that faced him in a masterful manner, he faithfully and with sincere dedication, led the Antioch Baptist Church as it’s under-shepherd for thirty-seven years. Dr. Frazier is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Frazier, Sr. and Ellen Ella (Levy) Frazier, wife Kezia D. (Brewer) Frazier, sister Ernestine Bussey, brother Daniel Frazier, grandson Antonio Lamont Frazier, and great grandson Antonio Lamont Marshall Frazier. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Erma Jean (James) Carter of Marietta, GA., James Frazier, Jr. and Jacqueline (Michael) Johnson, both of Columbus, OH; brothers, Lloyd (Joyce) Frazier, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, and Emanuel (Charlotte) Frazier of Columbus, OH; sisters, Barbara Ann Yarborough of Columbus, OH, Marva Shirley Garrett of Los Angeles, CA, and Jeannette Barnett of Columbus, OH; sisters-in-law, Christiana Gibson of Canton, NC, and Mary B. Napper of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Kimberly Robinson of Atlanta, GA, Carmen Sikute of Utica, OH, Kevin (Tanisha) Frazier, Michael Frazier, and Diamond Frazier, all of Columbus, OH; six great grandchildren; special cousins, Henry (Bertha) Willis of Columbus, OH; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and members of the Antioch Baptist Church family.
