James Thomas Hill, Sr. was born March 6, 1936 and passed into eternal life on August 28, 2014 at the age of 78. James was a veteran of the United States Army. In 1996, he retired from the United States Postal Service. A longtime member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, James was a natural tenor and sang in the choir. Always the life of the party, he often told jokes and tales about everything. His favorite words were, “I did it my way.” He was predeceased by his parents, George and Leanna Hill. James is survived by his wife, Christine G. Hill; sons, James T. Hill, Jr. and Tyson L. Tucker; daughters, Zina L. Hill-Ford (John Sr.) of Charleston, West Virginia, and Debra Willis (Paul Sr.) of Chicago, Illinois; five grandchildren, five great grandchildren; sisters, Truscilla (Kitty) Berger, Elsie Anderson, Eunice Hill, Nina Hill, all of Columbus, Ohio, Carolyn Russell of Atlanta, Georgia, and Brenda Hardy of Charleston, West Virginia; brothers, George W. Hill of Columbus, Ohio, and Leonard Ike (Patricia) Hill of Morgantown, West Virginia; aunts, Daisy and Mary Reeves of Atlanta, Georgia; uncle, Rev. Otha J. (Helen) Reeves of Meansville, Georgia; nephew, Victor Garland; extra special niece and part time care giver, Karen Mahone; special God children, Dr. H. Richard and Shellie Milner; mother-in-law, Olena (Mom) Garland; brother-in-law, James O. Garland; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kemper; very special others to him, Huber Rabbit Jones, Monroe Glen, Bobby J. Reeves, Thelma and Arthur Lee Tyson, Rudolph Rule and Roberta L. Hill-Smith; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
