James Frank Powell, Jr., age 59, passed away July 22, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. James was born in Goodwater, Alabama, on April 5, 1957, to James F. Sr. and Daisy M. Powell. At age 15, he moved to Columbus, Ohio, where he attended East High School. He was later baptized at Flint Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and re-dedicated his life at First Church of God in 2015. James was an apprentice under the Powell Construction Company and became a master cement finisher working for Thomas Construction Company and remaining a member of Local Union 423 for over 23 years. He was a die-hard Bengals fan, an avid traveler, and a FOR-REAL Grill Master. His ribs, chicken, and special barbeque sauce will be missed. James loved his family and, in return, was loved and respected by both his family and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Powell, Sr., and brothers, Bobby, Jerry, and Larry. He leaves to mourn his passing, his daughter Stephanie (Jerry) Stevens; mother Daisy Mae; former wife Mary; grandson Jameson Stevens; sisters, Ruby, Betty (O.J.) Edgerton, and Margaret (Mark) Best; brothers, Joe, Arthur, David (Tasha), and John L. Charles; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We love you, James, and some day we will meet again!
