James Edward Rhynehardt, Sr., age 81, born January 2, 1934 in Forsyth County, NC, passed away August 17, 2015 in Columbus, OH, where he had been a resident since 1959. For 45+ years, he was employed as a truck driver with the Schottenstein Corporation/Value City Furniture. James (known as Jim) was one of the first employees hired by Jerome Schottenstein. He owned beagles most of his life and loved to hunt rabbits. He also enjoyed tilling the land and working in his gardens in both Columbus and Davie County, NC. Preceded in death by his son James Edward Rhynehardt, Jr., mother Mary Eloise Holbrook, father James Henry Amos, and stepfather Lee Edward Holbrook. Survived by wife Dorothy West Rhynehardt; children, Deborah Rhynehardt (Henry) Pickens, Sandra Kaye (Timothy) Ragland, Brenda Yvonne Rhynehardt, Kenneth Leroy Rhynehardt (Sherry Hamilton), and Regina R. (Julian) Harper; grandchildren, James Christopher (Terrie) Ragland, Shannon (Beth) Nicholson, William Kenneth Ragland, II (Aria), Brannon E. Pickens (Monica Sou), Chantell Ragland, Jamil S. Pickens, and Knoelle Loren Smith-Rhynehardt; great grandchildren, James Christopher “JC” Ragland, II, Nia Chanel Ragland, William Kenneth Ragland, III, Braleena Pickens, Raynon Pickens, and Alexander Lee Ragland; and a host of other relatives and friends.
