James Henry Seay was born in Bluefield, West Virginia to the parents of John T. and Seay, Sr. and Maude L. Seay on January 23, 1929.
After graduating from Genoa High School in 1946, he continued his education and graduated from Bluefield State College in Bluefield, West Virginia in 1950 where he received a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry.
As a student at Bluefield, he was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. He received a Medical Technician degree from Chicago College of Medical Technology in 1954. James became a Registered Medical Technician and was employed as the Supervisor of Endocrinology Laboratory at The Ohio State University Hospitals for 35 years. Under his guidance and supervision, he helped establish several medical test that are being used currently.
He is a Veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in Korea for 18 months, in the United States Army.
After retiring from The Ohio State University Hospitals he signed with CAM Talents and became an actor where his talents may be seen on television or in publications.
He and his wife Lonnie were avid travelers and have traveled all over the country and world, having visited Israel and Egypt twice.
James was a faithful member of Asbury North United Methodist Church for 66 years. He held many positions on the local level; serving as Lay Leader, Lay Speaker, and President of United Men. James was recognized as holding the congregation together during the year of 1986 as their Administrator. He also served on the district level as Secretary of the District United Methodist Men.
James has served as President of the Columbus Chapter Bluefield State College Alumni Association and was proud to announce that he is a BSC Alumnus.
While living in Chicago he fell in love and married his beloved wife Lonnie and they were married for 63 years before her passing. To this union they had two daughters, Janet Patricia Seay and Jeri Lynn (Paul) Hensley.
Additional Surviving family includes, grandson, Paul S. Hensley II; niece, Denise Seay, Beckley, WV; nephew, Sean Seay, San Antonio, TX as well as many other loving extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, John T. Seay, Jr. and sister, Jeanette Louise Martin.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 19th, 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Funeral Service immediately following at Asbury North United Methodist Church, 1586 Clifton Ave, Columbus, Ohio. Burial will take place in procession to Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg , OH.
