James W. Lipscomb, Jr. was born in Columbus, OH to Drs. James and Ruby Cooper Lipscomb, and he was the oldest of three children. At the age of 50, he entered eternal life on October 12, 2021 in Atlanta, GA. In his early life in Ohio, he participated in little league baseball and karate, and he went to Thomas Worthington High School where he was a part of the football and the junior varsity basketball teams. James also joined Union Grove Baptist Church. He subsequently went to Clark Atlanta University where he earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Biology/Premed, and later earned his Master’s of Business Administration. James remained in Atlanta where he worked for the Fulton County Health Department for 25 years and subsequently the state of Georgia Health Department. He attained several employee awards as senior environmental health inspector. James was a football enthusiast, especially of the Buckeyes, had a keen sense of humor, concern for others, and a deep faith in God. James leaves a legacy that will forever be remembered by his family, friends, coworkers, and community. He is survived by his son, Luke James Lipscomb; wife, Zebada Stafford Lipscomb; parents, Drs. James and Ruby Lipscomb; brother Eric Lipscomb, MD, MBA; and sister, Angela Lipscomb-Hudson, MD.
