James Young

James Arthur Young was born to the late Lonnie Young and Christine Ferrell Young on December 11, 1938. He went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning on January 25, 2017. James accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age. He united with Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio in 1970. Upon coming to Columbus, he was employed with The Ohio Malleable and became the President of his Union, Local 428. James completed and received a certificate in electronics at RETS Electronic School. This led him to open Young’s T.V. Repair Service, which he owned and operated for more than 35 years. He also built and ran his own cable company, Suburbia Cable Company in Urbancrest, Ohio. James loved his family dearly and believed in family sticking together. Family reunions were important to him. He loved attending family reunion weekend in Alabama more than Christmas. His “specialty” was making old-fashion ice cream for the children (really maneuvering someone else into making it, but claiming that he did). In addition to his love for family, was the love that he had for his special dog “Jiggy”, who never left his side. James leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 48 years, Eleanor A. Young; children, Terrelle (Alexander)Lewis, Mary Kelly, Anthony(Kelly)Pollard, Mark (Monique) Pollard, Tommisynia Young, Curtis Young, Carline (Arthur) Cottingham; mother, Christine Young; 9 siblings, Ann(Clint)Bradford, Jereline Talley, Samuel Young, Clarice Howell, Wilbur (Delois) Young, Freda (Rod) Morris, Jerry Young, Alonza (Pamela) Young, Juan Ortiz Young; one brother-in-law, Richard (Casa) Black; one sister-in-law, Emma Douglas; eleven grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
