Jamya Tyelise Joyner

August 8, 1992 — August 11, 2020

Jamya Tyelise Joyner, affectionately known as “Mudderz,” was born August 8, 1992, in Columbus, Ohio, and passed away unexpectedly on August 11, 2020, just after her 28th birthday. She was a graduate of Africentric Early College and worked as a preschool teacher at Little Sprouts Learning Center. Jamya enjoyed spending time with family, writing books, and watching television (she was good for telling everyone else what was going to happen next before they could watch for themselves). Those preceding Jamya in death include her father James Joyner, Jr., grandparents, Johnnie Mae Smith, James Joyner, Sr., Calvin Mangum, and James Edward Smith, Sr., great grandmother Thenia Mae Smith, aunt Janet Smith, cousin Juan Wills, great aunt Darlene Smith, and great uncle Ray Smith. Jamya is survived by her mother Jewell Smith; sisters, Anastacia Miller (Michael), Ronique Miller, Ambriona Smith, Acacia Smith (Jaylin), Shanika Murphy, and Tamia Murphy; brother Ronald Miller, Jr.; dear friends, Tylonnia Stewart and Brittani Heller; goddaughters, Daria Anderson and Raquelle Smith; and a host of aunts, uncles and many cousins.
