Janet M. Pugh Thurston, was born on December 22, 1949 to the late Wade Pugh and Geraldine Glover-Pugh, in Warren, Ohio. Janet attended the Warren Public School District until graduating from Warren Harding High School where she was an energetic and bright student. Janet was saved at a very young age and attended the House of Prayer where she was very active in the music ministry. Janet attended Central State University where she was one of the charter members of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Delta Omega Chapter. She then went on to complete her Bachelor degree in Education at the Ohio State University in 1974. Janet was a free spirit who went on to start a prominent teaching career, touching the lives of young children in Columbus and Toledo, Ohio and eventually retiring from the Youngstown City School District. At the age of 23, Janet was united in marriage to the late Elder Franklin R. Freeman and was blessed with the gift of 4 children; Franklin II, Jenel, Byron and Tyson. Janet dedicated her life to children. While not only being the First Lady of Triedstone United Holiness Church in Delaware, Ohio and Mays Chapel in Toledo, Ohio, she also served as Northwestern District Children’s Coordinator Workshop Leader, teaching children music and play acting. Later in life, Janet was united in marriage to John H. Thurston Jr. Janet departed this life on July 26, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Byron D. Freeman. She leaves to cherish her memories, siblings, Patricia L. Pugh-Fant and Wade G. Fant; children, Franklin II, Jenel (Allan) and Tyson; 5 grandchildren, with one on the way; 3 nephews; 1 niece; and a host of family members and friends.
