Jeanette Butler (nee Smith) was born in May of 1930 to Macy Smith (nee Rookard) and Burrell Smith in Spartanburg, South Carolina. She migrated north to Columbus, Ohio to embark on a career as a Nursing Assistant at Mt. Carmel Medical Center on the city's west side. She retired after spending 35 years in the healthcare field assisting and helping others. Jeanette enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, listening to music and helping others. On Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the age of 86, Jeanette departed from this life while at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband James M. Butler, Jr., brother Carl Smith, sisters, Myrtle Smith, Lois Lewis, and Helen Payne, and grandson Jeremiah Frazier.
