Jed Jerome 'Jerry' Coates

Jed Jerome Coates (Jerry) was born on April 29, 1944 to the late Eleanor E. (Richardson) Coates-Forman and Jesse E. Coates. He was a member of the United States Marines Corp. He worked at the Beckley Vocational School for many years and was known in Columbus, Ohio as well as in Beckley, West Virginia. Jerry had a love for nature as well as hunting and fishing. He coached little league baseball and was on travel baseball teams. In 2005 he returned to Columbus, Ohio from Beckley W.VA due to illness and spent the last six years in Isabelle Ridgeway Nursing home where he passed on November 28, 2011. Survived by his three children: Carmen (Charles) Dobbins, Shelly Coates and Jarrod Hoskins; six wonderful grandchildren, Henry, Michael, Jayln, Chris, Candice and Bo. He will be missed by many especially his favorite cousins Gwendolyn Ray, Robert Gene and Wendel Bibb and a host of many more family and friends.
