Jennifer Lynn Williams, age 61, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, January 13, 2025, surrounded by love and grace.
Born on December 26, 1963, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Herbert H. Williams and Frances L. Williams, Jennifer grew up in Braddock, Pennsylvania. She was a proud graduate of General Braddock High School, Class of 1981. From an early age, Jennifer embraced her faith, accepting Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at Bethel Baptist Church and later became a devoted member of New Hope Baptist Church.
In 1988, Jennifer embarked on a new chapter, accepting a position with the Department of Defense in Columbus, Ohio. Over a remarkable 37-year career with the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Columbus Center, she demonstrated exceptional dedication and professionalism. Her achievements included earning a Lean Six Green Belt Certification, a DoD Financial Management Level 2 Certification, and receiving the prestigious 30 Years of Service Award in 2018.
Balancing a demanding career, Jennifer pursued higher education, earning both her Bachelor’s Degree and Master of Business Administration (MBA). She also served faithfully at Hosack Street Baptist Church, where she participated in various ministries, including Marketing, Foreign Mission, Hosack Inspired Sisters (H.I.S), and Drama.
Jennifer was preceded in death by her beloved parents. She is survived by her cherished siblings: Herkey Williams of Braddock, PA; Christine Leech of Homestead, PA; Robert Williams of Monroeville, PA; Corey Williams (Gina) of Turtle Creek, PA; and Jeffrey Williams (LaShawn) of East Pittsburgh, PA. She also leaves behind a host of nephews and nieces, Godchildren, extended family, friends, and colleagues who will deeply miss her.
Known lovingly by her family as "The Lone Traveler," Jennifer’s passions included traveling, volunteering, attending concerts, visiting casinos, shopping, and cheering for her favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. She found joy in caring for her family, watching reality television and her cherished soap opera, Days of Our Lives. Her personality sparkled with memorable phrases like, “I just stay in my lane,” “That’s just foolishness,” and “You’re full of pooh pooh.”
Jennifer’s life was a testament to faith, hard work, and love for her family and community. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
