Jesse McGowan was born April 3, 1922 to Milton and Celie McGowan in Rose Hill, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at an early age. Jesse was united in holy matrimony to the former Mentoria McGee and they remained married for 61 years. Their union was blessed with five children. Jesse retired from Union Local 423 after 48 years of working as a brick mason and carpenter. Jesse was a devoted father and grandfather (paw paw) who found great joy in spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He enjoyed holiday and birthday celebrations with his family. He liked watching OSU and the Superbowl games while checking his football pool picks. He was always ready for a trip to Wheeling. Jesse also enjoyed talking with friends and neighbors while sitting on his porch. On Tuesday, November 27, 2012, God in His infinite wisdom, called Jesse from labor to reward. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Elbert, brothers, K.D., Walter, Nemiah, and Leroy, and sisters Dessie Ree and Hanna Mae. Jesse will forever be remembered and revered by his four children, Vincent (Peggy), Linda, Bruce, and Rodney (Robin); brother Milton; 13 grandchildren, Allen, Rodney, Britanii, Jenita, Jessica, Jonathan, Marlon, Marte, Tahesha, Tanya, Tion, Titus, Tyra, and Vincent Jr.; 5 great grandchildren, Marshawn, Nazyir, Shareef, aTayvon, and Ty'jon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, including special cousin Floyd Tatum, other relatives and friends, including special friend Miss Joyce. Special thanks to his daughter-in-law, Robin.
